In top lane it is much easier to snowball, bully, and punish a losing lane because the lane is longer and it is easier to deny farm from your opponent. As such, it is much less frustrating to play mid lane. It is much harder to dive mid, and is also harder to punish a losing lane in mid lane because the lane is shorter, even though there are two sides to gank. However, matchups in mid lane are not nearly as one sided, because worst case scenario, you could hide in your tower to farm if you are losing lane. It is solo, you farm creeps, and doesn't necessarily need to roam (again, even though it is recommended to do that if you can). Top lane is the most similar to mid lane, playstyle wise. Keep in mind this also applies to your opponent, however. So you aren't as reliant on a teammate to carry you and you have a better chance of snowballing because you can abuse your opponent with less chances of his allies denying you that snowball chance. It is also much easier to farm minions than it is to farm monsters.Īnd unlike bot lane, you are playing solo. Unlike jungle, helping your team around the map is also not strictly required (even though it is still heavily recommended because it significantly increases your chances of winning) so mid lane doesn't have as much pressure to roam and gank as the jungler. Assassins and mages are the most common champions there, but you can also see divers, ADCs, melee carries, and sometimes even juggernauts and tanks. Mid lane has a pretty diverse champion pool.
